Babies and Older Ratties
Rats can breed all year round, in fact rats can get pregnant as soon as they give birth!
Here at Fancy Rattus, we usually have 1 litter at a time, occasionally 2.
The reason why this rattery has chosen to have few litters is so that the litters we do have can get plenty of attention, and can all be handled individually. Having fewer litters, we can track health and personality traits more closely.
No Doe is over bred, number of litters she has depends on how well she handles her litters, and how well she recovers from her litters.
Bucks are usually bred later in life to insure strong health and temperament.
